Art and Spirit

Art to me is an anecdote of the spirit, and the only means of making concrete the purpose of its varied quickness and stillness.

Client Shoot: NYC Real Estate

Worked on this piece for a client in Real Estate. The vision they had was an image of NYC Skyline taken from Queens, something fresh, geometric, and sassy (their words exactly!) This isn’t the final image used, since they have exclusive rights and of course I honor that. This is me playing around with concepts…

Creativity is a lot like looking at the world through a kaleidoscope. You look at a set of elements, the same ones everyone else sees, but then reassemble those floating bits and pieces into an enticing new possibility.

Sacred Geometry

So humbled by the exquisiteness and order of the universe. Everything from our cells > to the proportions of the human body > to nature, breaks down to mathematics.

I recently shot some snaps in the Lady Greenthumbs‘ (my alter ego) Urban Garden that honors this beauty. Featured below is the dwarf blue bedder ageratum flower, a sage leaf and a day neutral strawberry on its way to full color. Click on the photo for a greater vantage point of sacred geometry in action. Nature nurtures.

It is my belief, that the following statement by James Nachtwey can translate to any part of life. When we listen and trust own instinct, we’re living truthfully and for our greatest good. If we use our inner guide, our instinct, our map, we can be the humans we are meant to be. It takes diligence, integrity and faith… and it’s worth every effort.

“It is very hard to say where you’re going until you get there. That kind of thing is based very much on instinct. As a photographer, one of the most important lessons I have learned is that you have to learn to listen to and trust your own instinct. It has helped to guide me, this far at least.”

PORTFOLIO UPDATE version 2.0 is shaping up to be a diverse and really well rounded presentation of my photography. As of today, there will be nine portfolios for the website relaunch.

I recently received feedback from a few photo pros where they declared that nine portfolios is too much… I totally disagree with them! My photography is as diverse as I am as a being and I feel that should be represented for the website/portfolio relaunch. What do you think?

Progressive Technology

Much of my inspiration and creativity stems from tapping into my inner core, but there are times that I feel a need to immerse myself in other worlds, other times and other culture’s creative endeavours…. This urge brought me to the Metropolitan Museum of Art recently.

I always try and see the new exhibits at the Met, but time and again I am drawn to the Egyptian wing. I feel deeply connected to Egyptian culture and am amazed by their storytelling through imagery. The snap I took below really got me. Look at the mic-like item in the male figure’s hand. Then take a look at the top right corner. The hieroglyphs look like aircrafts and the microphone indicates that they were in communication. If this is not evidence that the Egyptians were a technologically advanced society, I don’t know what is.

Her Story

It’s Women’s History Month, or as I like to call it, HERstory Month. I’m deeply humbled by all of the inspired and talented females that have come before me and I am beyond grateful to create.

Freedom of creativity and expression is everyone’s birthright, though I cannot deny the fact that this freedom does not find its way to many women across the planet. Creative spirit goes beyond these illusions of our day-to-day politics and planet’s woes.

Many thanks for letting me share my creative journey with you. Gratitude. And for all those women that are shackled, I create in your honor.

I’m in such awe by nature’s goodies. This is my spider friend that lived with me for four months last summer. He’s got a bit of an alligator vibe going for him and a bunch of fun psychedelic prints on his grill. Stunning spidey: I hope you are well, wherever you are now.
